Capturing the joy of crafting for a subscription box company

For Cosy Craft Club
The project

Capture a set of images for Cosy Craft Club, a subscription service and online shop that provides everything needed to try a new craft – no need to gather materials or figure out where to start. The photos needed to reflect the brand’s cosy, accessible, and creative spirit.

The brief

This shoot had three main focuses – and honestly, we’d have happily spent the day just making the kits ourselves!

First up, we wanted to showcase the kind of craft kits Cosy Craft Club offers. This meant photographing them both as they arrive and mid-make, to reflect the hands-on, relaxing experience they provide. We had to get a bit creative here, setting up scenes that looked like we were right in the middle of stitching or paper crafting.

Next, we focused on the finished projects, styling them in a cosy home setting – like a cross-stitch proudly hung on the wall. These shots were all about helping customers picture how the kits could become part of their own space and daily life.

Finally, we brought together multiple kits and finished makes in one frame, to show off the variety Cosy Craft Club offers. These images were perfect for promoting what variety is available through the brand.

All of the photos were created to be versatile enough for use across social media, the website, and printed marketing materials.

The approach

With such a variety of kit aesthetics, from packaging to final results, we wanted the photos to feel cohesive and instantly recognisable as Cosy Craft Club. To achieve that, we chose bright, natural backdrops throughout, keeping everything light, airy, and consistent.

For the more homely, lifestyle-focused shots, we used a white table, a white fireplace surround, and a light wooden table (kindly hired from the lovely Colin & Peg). When picturing a cosy afternoon of crafting, it felt essential to add a cup of tea and a flickering candle, those little touches that bring in that calm, relaxed vibe. We also included hands in some of the shots to show the kits being used, with a real-home setting in the background – just enough detail to feel lived-in, but never distracting from the subject.

For the finished pieces, like a cross-stitch hanging on a wall, we styled them alongside other completed projects, subtly peeking into the edge of the frame. It’s always a bonus to cross-promote products in a natural way!

In the wider shots that featured multiple kits or final makes, we kept props minimal and subtle, you’ll spot them only if you look closely. These shots were all about letting the products speak for themselves.

The results

Rachel, founder of Cosy Craft Club, was provided with a gallery of just over 50 high res photos that showcased the variety of kits available but all captured in the Cosy Craft Club brand style. Ideal for pushing the brand out there.

The photo shoot contained a combination of portrait (great for social media) and landscape (great for those pesky banner shots on websites), so basically all bases were covered.

These images are pretty timeless too, we didn’t nod to any specific occasion or give it a seasonal vibe, meaning these can be used all year round. Such a useful bank of content to have!
